Glasgow…
Glasgow is a city with a rich industrial heritage but with its feet firmly in the present day, offering a diverse array of culture, history, entertainment, retail and sport.
Glasgow is a cultural hub, which is understandably home to Scotland’s biggest arts organisations such as the Scottish Ballet, Scottish Opera, National Theatre National Orchestra, as well as a choice of music venues, museums, theatres and a passion for sports.
Whether indulging in local Scottish fare, fusion cuisine or sampling recipes from around the world, Glasgow offers plenty of choice when eating out and at prices more competitive than other UK cities. Check out Byres Road, a popular spot for students who like to eat well on a budget.
Few cities can rival Glasgow’s passion for sports, including the notorious rivalry between Celtic and Rangers football clubs. The first ever international football match took place in Glasgow and Celtic was the first British team to win the European Cup.
The comprehensive public transport system makes getting around the city easy, in addition to the extensive bus system, the subway system, opened in 1896, it is the third-oldest underground metro system in the world and makes getting from A to B fast and convenient. For when you want to travel home for the weekend or for the holidays, the city has two train stations, Central Station and Queen Street Station.
